Magnolia Fawn Rescue is a volunteer based non-profit organization located on private property. We are not open to the public for tours or visits – upon owner’s discretion only. Volunteerism is extremely important to Magnolia Fawn Rescue. However, safety is paramount. In order to volunteer, you must participate in the training course offered once annually, and sign a liability waiver. Volunteers are accepted at the owners discretion, and on a case by case basis.

There are several levels of staffing at Magnolia Fawn Rescue. Unpaid Staff includes the following staff positions:

STAFF & OWNERS

  • Volunteer Coordinator
  • Media & Fundraising Coordinator
  • Merchandising Coordinator

VOLUNTEERS

  • See criteria below. Volunteers are accepted at the owners discretion, and on a case by case basis. Training course completion does not guarantee volunteer acceptance.

VISITORS

  • Magnolia Fawn Rescue is closed to visitors – owners discretion on a case by case basis.

If you are not a volunteer, or staff, you are a visitor and may not arrive to the property without owner’s permission.

Due to the increasing volume in fawn being displaced by suburban expansion, volunteers are certainly needed during the spring and summer for fawn care. To keep our volunteers and wildlife safe, the following criteria must be met before, and during volunteering:

General Volunteer Criteria:

  • Be over 18 years old or accompanied by an adult – waiver still must be signed by parent
  • Volunteers must attend a several hour training course.
  • Volunteers must follow all rules of the rescue as we are dealing with wildlife which at times can be dangerous (even little fawns kick hard).
  • Volunteers must also sign a release waiver before training and may be asked to leave the rescue property at any time for rule breaking.
  • No children under the age of 18 without supervision.
  • Please do not show up unannounced as we live on the same private property as the rescue. Typical volunteer times are Saturdays 10-12.
  • If the physical labor is not for you, please talk to our Volunteer Coordinator or Connie Hall for other support opportunities.

Volunteer Rules at the Rescue:

  • Do not pet, cuddle, or baby-talk the fawns – we want them wild and free! Fawn imprint very easily.
  • Keep quiet in areas marked as such as to not spook the fawns and injure you or them.
  • Do not enter any areas which are marked as such.
  • Must latch and carbine every gate behind you as to prevent accidental release of fawns or sanctuary deer. Leave all gates as you found them.
  • No entry to non-releaseable sanctuary deer pen without training and owner or staff permission. Even though the bucks are fixed, they still may rough-house.
  • Listen carefully to all instructions and volunteers leads.
  • Have fun 🙂
